The lace town of Plauen does a good job of ’entangling’ its visitors. The capital of the Vogtland achieved world fame as the hometown of Plauen Lace. In embroidery workshops or the Lace Museum, the only one of its kind in Germany, embroidery is still carried out on traditional machines.
Plauen’s St John’s Church with its two towers is also a highlight. And one person must be mentioned: the famous artist and cartoonist, Erich Ohser, who wrote the charming ‘Father and Son’ stories under the name ‘e. o. plauen’.
Not far from the lace town is another unique feature: the Vogtland music region, which has been home to the production of all kinds of handmade musical instruments for over 300 years.
